Bali Day 1 (Holy spring water, Jimbaran)

Holy Spring Water(Temple)

We headed off to one of the many local temples. Unlike the other temples, this one is a tad bit more unique as there is spring water inside it. Worshipers would bath in the spring waters, and then lay their offerings in front of the Gods statues.

One of the doorways. Almost all of the temple entrances in Bali look similar.

Families bathing in the spring water.

The spring water in the pool comes from here.

Another entrance. Note that I wore a sarong as a respect to the temple Gods. Pants or skirt above knee level are not allowed.

Their man-made pond. This place gave me a vibe of serenity despite having so many tourists flashing their cameras around me.

We had a walk around the market just outside the temple. This is where you can fully utilize your bargaining skills ;).

Balinese Residence

We were way ahead of time for our dinner, so the very kind tour guide took us for a visit to a Balinese house which belongs to his friend. If you think Balinese live in brick-houses like us, you're wrong. They have a very distinctive way of living.

Walking down the aisle to their home, you would see a small garden leading the way.

It is compulsory for the compound of their home to have the main 5 buildings, namely their main building, get-together hut, kitchen and bathroom, rice-storing hut and the temple. This building up here is their get-together hut.

The two holy directions in Balinese context are the North and the East. Thus, North-east is the holiest area, where they build their home temples.

This is their rice-storing hut. They no longer store rice in it as we now have more advance technologies. However, all of the houses still build this hut for traditional purposes.

As weird as it sounds, it is not common for Balinese people to have meals together unless there are special occasions. The mother will prepare food early in the morning and anyone who's hungry can just go over the kitchen and get some food to eat. Unlike many of us, they do not have meals at fixed time so there's nothing call breakfast, lunch and dinner among the Balinese people.

Jimbaran Sunset and seafood dinner

Jimbaran Beach

I love how the restaurants are situated along the long stretch of beach.

Went for a walk with mum and entered this resort.
Sari Segala Resort and Spa.

No I did not stay here. Lol

Mum and dad waiting anxiously for dinner. The orange-coloured drinks are their welcome drink.

Almost sunset.

Our seafood dinner. My best meal in Bali as the food in Bali are just so-so and friggin expensive.

The infamous Jimbaran sunset.

Bye bye Mister Sun! See you in the morning!

Me drinking from the huge coconut. I was able to watch free Balinese cultural dance in the midst of my dinner. Listened to a band playing their music as well. In overall, si beh enjoy-lah.

To be continued..
